Acquisition of high parameter flow cytometer to disentangle complex microbe-host interactions that drive neonatal development in dairy cows

PI: Lautaro Rostoll Cangiano

Rostoll Cangiano is an assistant professor of animal and dairy sciences at UW–Madison. His research focuses on dairy cattle immunology and host pathogen interactions for improving animal health and welfare. Rostoll Cangiano’s position is funded by the Dairy Innovation Hub.

Rostoll Cangiano’s project will utilize a new ThermoFisher Attune NxT flow cytometer, a benchtop cell analyzer that can measure multiple parameters of cell function in realtime, to better understand the mechanisms that influence immune and metabolic function with the goal of developing novel preventative and therapeutic strategies to improve health outcomes in both cattle and humans.
