Careful manure management is necessary to apply nutrients in an environmentally friendly way. Traditional surface manure spreading is low-cost but may result in nutrient loss, odor and air pollution, and groundwater contamination. This project aims to investigate the feasibility of incorporating liquid manure application with vertical tillage. The goal of this project is to develop a viable liquid manure application system that maximizes field efficiency and crop nutrient availability while minimizing environmental impacts. To this end, the research team will focus on computer-aided design (CAD) and modeling for a prototype machine for liquid manure addition.
