Upgrading the shared campus use Small Animal Metabolic Phenotyping Facility

PI: Joseph Pierre

Pierre is an assistant professor of nutritional sciences at UW–Madison. His research interests include the gut microbiome, nutrition, and intestinal physiology and disease. Pierre’s position is funded by the Dairy Innovation Hub.

Pierre’s project aims to acquire a shared use autoclave and biological safety cabinet for the newly established UW–Madison Small Animal Metabolic Phenotyping Facility. This equipment will help control potentially disruptive environmental and microbial factors, strengthen the rigor and reproducibility of animal studies, and maintainveterinary approved husbandry and animal care in nutrition and metabolism research at this state-of-the-art animal research facility.
