Fu’s project will use X-ray diffraction (XRD), which characterizes the components in dairy products, such as proteins and minerals. XRD is a rapid, powerful, and commonly used analysis technique for identifying materials and studying internal structure. Fu will use XRD to improve contaminant removal from dairy wastewater collected at UW–Platteville’s Pioneer Farm.

Fu is an assistant professor of mechanical and industrial engineering at UW–Platteville with research interests in manufacturing processes, ceramic materials and mechanical properties of ceramic materials.
